Meet the Growers
Barnett Farms
A longtime seed potato growing family in Potter County, Pennsylvania, Valery Barnett-Robbins and her husband, Chris, now operate the former Barnett Brothers Headwater Potatoes. Valerie and Chris are the fourth generation to operate the family farm and have transitioned the name of the farm to Barnett Farm.
Bender Potato Farm
David and Bryan Bender of Bender Potato Farm are a father son duo out of Franklin County, Pennsylvania. Not only do they specialize in growing our favorite vegetable, but they have expanded their growing operations to include pumpkins and hemp.
The Bender Family has been growing potatoes for almost a dozen decades.
Coolridge Farms
The farming operation at Coolridge Farms, Potter County is led by Jon Blass, a fourth-generation farmer at Sweden Hill. The family farm dates to 1916 when it was started by Joseph Blass. Today, the family farm also grows oats and wheat in addition to its longstanding staple crop of potatoes.
Geiger Family
The Geiger Family Farm has been growing potatoes for more than 100 years on the current homestead in Schnecksville, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania with the fourth and fifth generation currently farming. Tim and Deb now own and run the farm with the help of their children: Hannah, Olivia, and Jonas Geiger, and Lillie and Dustin Badesso. The farm is also home to dairy beef, black Angus cattle, and Boer goats.
Harold Keener & Sons
The Keener family has been growing potatoes for four generations in the Mount Joy area. The farm is currently operated by Steve Keener and his son, Dan Keener. They focus on growing round white potatoes, with much of their crop being marketed directly to local restaurants and grocery stores. They also maintain a hog finishing barn and experiment with growing asparagus.
K&C Farms
Kevin and Colleen Osborn started farming in 1976. Kevin has been farming all his life, with his parents and grandparents. With the help of their two daughters, sons-in-law and four grandchildren, they raise 180 acres of chip potatoes, plus wheat, soybeans, and corn.
Long Farms
Long Farms is led by Carl and Betsy Long, first-generation potato growers. Their potatoes are grown for potato chipping and are also sold as Keystone Potatoes. Their family farm also grows wheat, oats, and green beans.
Mast Farms
Mast Farm is a fourth-generation family of Lancaster County potato growers. While the family is proud of their potato heritage, they also grow pumpkins, strawberries, grain, and raise beef cattle. Ernest Mast and his three sons currently operate the family farm.
Sterman Masser
For eight generations, the Masser Family has been growing potatoes. Today, David Masser and Julie Masser-Ballay lead the family company. The farming operations now include producing potatoes and cash grain.
Troyer Growers
Troyer Farms began as a household name for many Pennsylvanians who grew up on their chips, popcorn, and other snack foods. More recently, the Troyer family, along with their dedicated team, has opened the door to a new food venture: Folkland Organic Farm Fries. The Folkland team is now growing 750 acres of chipping, fry, and certified organic potatoes. Their goal is to see the entire third-generation farm, about 1,500 acres, transition fully organic in the coming years to benefit the environment/land, and the health of their employees, neighbors, and community.
Whitetail Farms
Whitetail Farms, LLC is a potato and grain operation in the agriculture industry. The farm is made up of six-generational farmers that take an active role in raising and growing crops. They strive for success, hard work, and the ability to provide for their community.
